Policy HOU1 – Housing requirement (Publication version, Oct 2024)
1) During the plan period, provision will be made to meet the following requirements:
a) South Oxfordshire housing requirement: 16,530 homes between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2041, with the
annual requirement as follows:
i) 2021/22 to 2035/36 – 909 homes per annum
ii) 2036/37 to 2040/41 – 579 homes per annum
b) Vale of White Horse housing requirement: 14,490 between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2041, with the annual
requirement as follows:
i) 2021/22 to 2030/31– 816 homes per annum
ii) 2031/32 to 2040/41 – 633 homes per annum
2) This is not a joint housing requirement for South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse. For the purposes of determining whether a council can demonstrate a five year housing land supply, each district will measure its own supply against its own requirement.

MM1 extended plan period to 2035 (was 2034).
MM5 provides an updated overall housing requirement for plan period (but retains same DPA). Total requirement is made up of: (1) South Oxfordshire Minimum housing requirement - 18,600; and (2) 4,950 homes addressing Oxford's unmet housing need. Total requirement is 23,550. Annual requirement is 2011/12 to 2025/26 - 900 DPA; 2026/27 to 2031/32 1,120 DPA; 2032/33 to 2034/5 1,110 DPA.
